Vibique is a radio player for the web (vibique.com) and for phones and cars. This page explains what information Vibique handles, and what it doesn't.

The short version

•
We never sell your data. Accounts are optional.
•
The website may show ads from Google AdSense, which uses cookies to choose and measure them. Not in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, and not in the apps.
•
Without an account, your saved stations, saved songs, recently played stations and recent searches stay on your device.
•
If you sign in, your saved stations and songs (and recently played, if you turn that on) are kept with your account so they sync between your devices. You can delete your account at any time.
•
When something breaks, the app sends an error report with no user or device ID.
•
Anonymous usage analytics helps us see which stations and features get used. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland it stays off unless you allow it; elsewhere you can turn it off in Settings.

What stays on your device

Saved stations, saved songs and discovered artists, recently played stations, recent searches and your settings (including your analytics choice) are stored only on your device, in the app's storage or your browser's local storage. We can't see them. Clear them in the app, by uninstalling it, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional and only used to sync your library between your devices. You can sign in with Google or with a link sent to your email address. Your account holds:
•
your email address, and your name and profile photo if your Google account shares them;
•
your saved stations and saved songs, with when you saved or removed them;
•
recently played stations (your last 20), only if you turn on “Recently played” on the Account page.
Accounts use Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. Only you can read your library; we don't use it for ads or share it. Recent searches and your analytics choice never leave your device. Your account isn't linked to analytics or error reports.
Signing out keeps a copy of your library on that device. Deleting your account (on the Account page) removes your synced library and your sign-in from our systems straight away; the copy on each device stays until you clear it there.

Error reports

When a station won't play or the app runs into an error, Vibique sends a short report so we can fix it and stop showing broken stations. A report contains:
•
for a station: its directory ID, name and stream address, the kind of stream, and the error;
•
for other errors: where in the app it happened and the error message;
•
your platform (web, Android or iOS), operating system version, app version and the time.
Reports contain no name, account, device ID or advertising ID, and aren't linked to each other or to you. They're stored in Google Cloud Firestore and kept only as long as they help us fix problems.

Usage analytics

With your permission where required, Vibique uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count how the app is used: for example which stations are played and where from (Home, a genre, search, the dice, a shared link, the car), stations that fail to play, how long listening lasts, and use of features like saving and sharing. We never send what you type into search, or anything that identifies you.
Google Analytics uses a random ID for your browser (a cookie) or app install, and sees your IP address to estimate your country; Google says it doesn't store IP addresses. Advertising features and Google Signals are turned off. We keep analytics data for the shortest period Google Analytics offers.
In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, analytics stays off until you choose “Accept”. Elsewhere it's on by default. Wherever you are, you can change your choice at any time in Settings; turning it off on the web also removes the analytics cookies.

Advertising

Ads help keep Vibique free. On vibique.com, Vibique may show ads from Google AdSense, marked “Advertisement”. The Vibique apps don't show ads at the moment; we'll update this page before they do.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Google also uses them to measure ads and to limit how often you see the same one. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's My Ad Center, and out of other vendors' personalized ads at aboutads.info. You'll still see ads, but they won't be based on your interests.
Vibique doesn't give advertisers your library, your account, your searches or anything else that identifies you, and analytics advertising features stay off. We don't show ads in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland.

Cookies and local storage

Vibique stores a few things in your browser or the app:
•
Needed for Vibique to work: your saved stations and songs, history, settings and your analytics choice, in your browser’s local storage or the app’s storage. If you sign in, Firebase keeps you signed in the same way. These aren’t used to track you.
•
Analytics (if allowed): Google Analytics cookies with a random ID, described above. Turning analytics off in Settings removes them.
•
Advertising (website only, outside the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland): cookies set by Google and its partners when an ad is shown, described under Advertising.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. Vibique keeps working without them, but saved stations kept in this browser are deleted when you clear its site data.

Services you connect to

To find and play stations, your device talks directly to other services, which see your IP address like any website does and have their own privacy policies:
•
the radio stations' own servers, which send the audio;
•
Radio Browser, the community directory of stations;
•
for song information and artwork: SomaFM, Radio Paradise, the Apple iTunes Search API, MusicBrainz and the Cover Art Archive;
•
Google Firebase, which hosts vibique.com and may log standard request details (like IP address) for security and reliability.
Links such as “Listen on Apple Music” or “Spotify” open those services, under their own policies.
Product links in the Listening Room open Amazon, under Amazon's own policies. They carry Vibique's Amazon Associates tag so Amazon can credit the referral; Vibique doesn't learn what you buy. With analytics on, we count which products are tapped.

Children

Vibique isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their information.

Your rights

Without an account, we don't hold information that identifies you, so there's usually nothing to look up or delete. With an account, you can see what syncs on the Account page and delete it all there. If you have a question or a request about your data, email hello@vibique.com. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Depending on where you live (for example California and other US states), you may have the right to opt out of the use of cookies for targeted advertising. Use Google's My Ad Center, or email us and we'll help.

Changes

We'll update this page when what Vibique collects or shows changes, and change the date at the top. If the analytics section changes in a significant way, we'll ask again where consent is required.
