About this station

NTS began in 2011 in a small studio in Dalston, east London, started by Femi Adeyemi to give his friends somewhere to play the music they loved. It grew into a station with studios on several continents, without ever being on FM.
The model is radical freedom. Hundreds of resident hosts, from record collectors to well-known artists, each get a show and play what they want: dub, jazz, grime, ambient, Brazilian funk, library music, noise, soul. Channel 1 carries the live schedule. You'll hear things you didn't know existed.

When it's best

When you're curious. It isn't background music for everyone, but if you like surprises, it's hard to beat.
